The work is often presented with considerable abstraction. Ward's prints have been widely exhibited and are included in numerous public and private collections. In 1997, the El Paso Museum of Art in El Paso, Texas, acquired the entire American Landscape collection, a retrospective exhibition of 90 of his black and white prints exhibited in Latvia in 1991.  A book of photographs from that collection was published in 2004 (Land and Light in the American West, Trinity University Press) to accompany a major exhibition of the work at the Museum in 2005. Additional publications include Photography Annual (1981), Colorado Magnificent Wilderness (Westcliffe Publishers, 1984), View Camera Magazine (2005), Outdoor Photographer (2005), an annual Rocky Mountain National Park Calendar (1989-2004) and credits in various national magazines, books and calendars. Portfolio One: Landscape, an edition of 50 sets of twelve 16x20" original black & white prints, was published in 1981.
