DECEMBER WORKSHOP FEATURING CHAUNCEY HOMER

DECEMBER 7TH – 9TH 2012 FROM 10:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.  This 3-day workshop is for students of all levels and designed to improve painting skills and help students develop their own personal style.  Mr. Homer will demonstrate how to go beyond copying a photo or nature and how to add drama and mood to paintings.  Although the focus will be on painting the portrait/figure, the principles learned will apply to whatever subject students choose to paint. All three days will begin at 10:00 AM at The Gold Dome and will conclude at 4:00. Painting locations may change, however all three days will begin at The Dome from December 7th – 9th.

During the workshop, students will paint from photos as well as life and there will be discussion on the benefits and limitations of each.  Students will explore the principles of both traditional realism and impressionism to find the right balance in your work.  Students will do exercises to help develop accurate but expressive brushwork and be shown how to render minute detail.  Emphasis will be on accurate drawing, values, edges, “keying in” a painting, and on finishing techniques including glazing, scumbling, and how to work over a dry painting.  With this information, you can choose to paint loose and accurate or highly detailed.

Since most students will be at different skill levels, Mr. Homer will make sure that you get individual attention and instruction geared to your level.

Space will be limited to the first 12 people who sign up and lunch will be provided to those students in attendance. While at lunch, Mr. Homer will lead discussions about finished paintings in The Grapevine Collection.

For reservations and questions, please call Clay Speer at 405-830-2057. Remember we are taking the first 15 that sign up, after that the workshop will be considered full and no others will be accepted.
